Sharing a family calendar between iPhone and Android fails when each phone is looking at a different calendar. Apple’s family calendar does not live on Android. A subscribed link can take hours to catch up.

Use one calendar both phones can open

Google Calendar is the straightforward shared calendar across the two phones. Create a calendar named for the family, not a copy of either person’s work diary. Share it with the other parent at “see all event details” or “make changes to events”. Leave the work calendar unshared.

  • On a computer, open Google Calendar. Next to Other calendars, create a new calendar.

  • In that calendar’s settings, under Share with specific people, add the other parent.

  • On the iPhone, open Settings, then Calendar, then Accounts, then the Google account, and turn Calendars on.

  • On the Android phone, add the same Google account in the Calendar app and tick the family calendar.

Why the iPhone calendar does not appear on Android

An iCloud calendar shared through Apple Family Sharing shows up on other Apple devices. It does not show up in the Android calendar. Subscribing the Android phone to an iCloud link is one-way, and Apple refreshes subscribed calendars on a delay. A change made at breakfast can still be missing at pickup.

What the shared calendar still will not do

A shared Google calendar only shows what somebody typed into it. The school email, the club PDF, and the WhatsApp time change are still sitting in an inbox until a person copies them across.

Nuet is on iPhone and Android. Each parent connects their own inbox. The dates land on the calendar you already use, including the shared family calendar above. That is the difference between a shared view and a schedule that keeps itself current. Start at nuet.ai.

Frequently asked questions

How do I share a calendar between iPhone and Android?

Create a Google Calendar for the family and share it with the other parent. Turn that calendar on in the iPhone’s Google account and in the Android calendar app. Do not share the work calendar.

Can I see an Apple Calendar on an Android phone?

Not as a live family calendar. Apple Family Sharing stays on Apple devices. An Android phone can only subscribe to a published link, and that link updates on a delay.

Why do shared calendar changes show up late?

Subscribed calendar links are refreshed by the phone, not pushed the moment someone edits them. A calendar you both edit inside Google Calendar updates faster than a subscribed link.
